How to use this site..
This site is hosted on Wordpress, one of the most popular blogging platforms around. As such it is relatively straightforward to start contributing to IQTrainwrecks.com. There are a few ways to do this:
- You can post a comment on an existing story.
- Posting a comment on an existing story allows you to share your thoughts, update the story, or add a reference to a similar story in your local media. You may also use the comments to highlight information quality good practices that might have helped prevent that particular problem.
You can post a comment by clicking on the Comments link at the bottom of each post. You do not have to be logged in or registered to post a comment but you will need to give a name to display against your post and an email address. This email address is not displayed. You have the option of giving a website address also but this is not required.
- You can contribute a post yourself.
- Contributing posts is the best way to help IQTrainwrecks grow. It is your way to share stories about the impact of poor data quality in your local area, your industry or simply in your own life.
To post information on an Information Quality Trainwreck, you must be registered on the site. Click on the ‘Login’ link down the right hand side and you’ll be taken to the admin section. Depending on the level of user rights you have you may see slightly different options. Most registered users will have a ‘contributor’ role.
Click on “Write a Post” and the rest is straight forward. One thing to remember is to TAG your post using on of the Categories on the Right hand side of the screen. This lets Wordpress link related content together so if someone wants to see IQ Trainwrecks relating to Government, they just need to click on one link to see them all. If there isn’t a tag that suits your needs, drop the webmaster an email
Another way to contribute is to link back to IQTrainwrecks from your own blog or website using trackbacks or pingbacks (or just good old fashioned linking).
